Invitation to EWCHP Workshop - Oslo (Norway) 24-26/09/2012 Dear Colleagues, the second European Workshop on Cultural Heritage Preservation (EWCHP) will take place in Norway, September 24-26 , 2012. This is a follow up of the EWCHP workshop that was successfully arranged in Berlin last year. The aim of the 2nd EWCHP workshop is to provide a forum for scientists, conservators, owners of cultural heritage structures and other experts and stakeholders who are involved in cultural heritage preservation. The focus will be in the field of museum objects and historic structures and their conservation and preservation. The workshop integrates European activities and initiatives capturing the current state-of-the-art in research and development. It will show latest results from national funded project and EU funded projects like MEMORI, Climate for Culture, NANOMATCH, 3ENCULT, TEACH, and SMooHS. Opening of the call for the Third Specialization Forum: "3D visualization for the study and management of complex archaeological sites" (organised in the framework of the European Radio-Past Project)
The Forum will take place from July 2 - 7, 2012, in Hainburg (Austria), near Carnuntum, a location that is appropriate for the focus on data interpretation and virtual reconstruction. Following the standards of the past two years, the teaching staff will again consist of academic and specialist lecturers from excellent European research institutes. 2012 European Heritage Congress
The Europa Nostra ‘2012 European Heritage Congress’ will take place in Lisbon from 30 May through 2 June. This event, jointly organised by Europa Nostra and its Portuguese member organisation Centro Nacional de Cultura, will bring together many of members and other European heritage professionals and volunteers, as well as the proud laureates of the EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards.

4th International Euro-Mediterranean Conference (EUROMED 2012)
will be held in Limassol (Cyprus) October 29th to November 3rd, 2012 at the Amathus-Limassol hotel. The 4th EUROMED conference brings together researchers, policy makers, professionals, fellows and practitioners to explore some of the more pressing issues concerning Cultural Heritage today. In particular, the main goal of the conference is to focus on interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research on tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage, using cutting edge technologies for the protection, restoration, preservation, massive digitalization, documentation and presentation of the Cultural Heritage contents. At the same time, the event is intended to cover topics of research ready for exploitation, demonstrating the acceptability of new sustainable approaches and new technologies by the user community, owners, managers and conservators of our cultural patrimony.
Researchers and practitioners willing to participate to the EUROMED 2012 conference are invited to submit papers on original works addressing the following subjects and research themes:
i) PROTECTION, RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION OF TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE ii) DIGITAL HERITAGE DOCUMENTATION AND PRESENTATION
Submission of Papers: Submissions for the event are completely electronic through the on-line submission website available at http://www.euromed2012.euThe conference accepts only original, unpublished work written in English which will be blind-reviewed and published by an international editor. We are soliciting three types of contributions:
1. Full research papers: they present new innovative research developments and results. They will feature a full-length oral presentation and will be published in a high-quality proceedings volume. Each submitted paper must not exceed 10 pages in total.
2. Project papers: they focus on the description of project organization, use of technology and lessons learned. They will feature a short oral presentation and will be published in a high-quality proceedings volume. Each submitted paper must not exceed 10 pages in total.
3. Short papers: they present preliminary ideas and works-in-progress. These papers will have a short oral presentation and will be also available also as posters in conference breaks. Each short paper must not exceed 6 pages in total.

The First International Conference on Best Practices in World Heritage-Archaeology aims to generate a meeting point on Archaeology management and treatment of World Heritage sites. It will focus on Archaeology, keeping in mind that it needs to consider not only the sites, which have been inscribed as World Heritage due to its Archaeological nature, but also any site, property or group of material properties, inscribed as World Heritage, which can be studied using an archaeological methodology. The Conference is organised by the Complutense University of Madrid, and sponsored by the Council of Menorca Island (Balearic Islands, Spain), so that Menorca Island will become a place of reference for studies on the treatment of properties inscribed by UNESCO.

Theoretical Archaeology Group-USA is announcing a Call for Papers for "Buffalo TAG 2012: Bridges to New Worlds" to be held May 17-20, 2012 at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY, USA. Buffalo TAG 2012 is the fifth meeting of TAG-USA, an organization dedicated to the exploration and debating the implications of theoretical issues for archaeological practice and interpretation, worldwide. We welcome the submission of papers from faculty and students alike and aim to foster a lively environment for the discussion of theory within the field of archaeology, classical archaeology, visual studies/art history, and cultural heritage. Our theme "Bridges to New Worlds" emphasizes both the multidisciplinary and international focus of this conference. The conference will feature an opening panel on the "Past and Future of Theory" on Thursday, May 17 and an invited interdisciplinary symposium on "The Future of Heritage: Laws, Ethics and Sustainability" on Friday, May 18. The 1st Heritage Forum of Central Europe
Organised as a meeting of experts as part of Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the first edition of the Forum will be an opportunity to summarise the twenty years of transformation in cultural heritage in the region, as well as to identify common problems and new challenges in that regard. Our invitation is addressed to persons who are responsible for developing cultural policies, to experts and specialists in cultural heritage protection and management, and to caretakers and managers of historic monuments and sites from Central Europe.
European Heritage Forum (Meeting of the European Heritage Label Sites) 6-8 June, 2011, Visegrád, Hungary The European Heritage Forum seeks to provide an opportunity for representatives of sites that have been granted the European Heritage Label as a result of the former intergovernmental cooperation to meet with one another, with governmental experts of the Member States and with representatives of the concerned intergovernmental and international professional organisations in order to discuss their experiences gained in the course of their intergovernmental cooperation, and to formulate recommendations and proposals with respect to the implementation of the proposed decision on the establishment of a European Union action for the European Heritage Label at national level.
