EAC had a successful Annual Meeting in Paris, France at the 15th-17th March 2012. The General Assembly elected Austria and Latvia among the member countries of the EAC, and the Board of the EAC had also been renewed.Marie-Jeanne Ghenne from Belgium/Wallonia and Matej Ruttkay from the Slovak Republic had been re-elected as Board members; Agnes Stefansdottir from Iceland, Andrej Gaspari from Slovenia, Jan Marik from the Czech Republic and Seán Kirwan from Ireland had been elected as new Board members. The Heritage Management Seminar included the report of the four EAC working parties, and information about the recent developments of the CoE HEREIN 3 program was provided.
The symposium on the topic ‘Who Cares? Perspectives on Public Awareness, Participation and Protection in Europe’s Archaeology’ had several interesting presentations, and a volume based on this EAC symposium (but also comprising papers from other similar themed discussions) is planned to be published within a year.
The latest EAC publication - EAC Occasional Paper 6. Large-scale excavations in Europe: Fieldwork strategies and scientific outcome (edited by Jorg Bofinger and Dirk Krausse)- was launched at the meeting.
Due to the kind invitation of the Albanian Archaeological Service Agency, the next EAC Annual Meeting will take place in Albania in March 2013.
